My Story

At the heart of Paraparaumu Beach I started my flower farm in my back yard in 2018 with my young son in tow. As a trained florist I knew that I wanted to work with flowers without the sprays and plastic, and grow my business my way. I now grow thousands of seasonal blooms every year from seed to bouquet

Where I began

After a career in various creative industries, I found my way to flowers and was lucky enough to learn the art of floristry from master florist Megan Parker.

After working in the industry I quickly realised that I wanted to do things my way, without single-use plastics and worrying about chemical residues, with a sustainability at heart.

When we moved to Kapiti in 2018 and when my son napped during the day, I would run outside and start digging up my backyard. I had one goal: To grow as many flowers as I could. I had no plan, little experience and no greenhouse or studio. I started my backyard flower farm from the ground up – literally. I arranged flowers on my kitchen bench and had a tiny drawer for my materials!

I sold my first bunch of home-grown flowers to a neighbour in December 2018 and word spread fast, before i knew it I was in business

  • Our Ethos

Flowers that dont cost the earth
We avoid the use of sprays, single-use plastics and floral foam and use biodegradable materials from the twine that we tie our flowers with to the brown paper that we wrap them in. Our flowers come with care instructions to ensure you get the longest possible vase-life and all packaging is compostable or recyclable

  • Sustainability

We believe in environment over all
We grow our flowers with the seasons naturally, supporting bees and pollinating insects. We use biological methods such as introducing beneficial insects to control pests and encourage as much wildlife in to the garden as possible.

What do we grow?

Our season starts in mid-August until the end of March. We re-open for Mothers Day and then close for the winter months.

Our spring flowers include tulips, anemone, freesia and ranunculus. Summer brings dahlia, zinnia and sunflowers. There is always something blooming!
