You may have noticed our flower arrangements are called 'Joy Jars' So where did this name come from?
When I started Bee & Bloom in 2018 I had one goal - to grow as many flowers as I could. I had no business plan, no social media , and no website! I started making bunches and bouquets for my neighbours and local community and word just spread from there. As I explored how to arrange my flowers, id always came back to the humble jam-jar arrangement, It was such a simple concept but who doesn't love a glass jar full of freshly picked blooms on their kitchen bench? So simple and yet so joyful...
So I started experimenting...
Joy Jars in the early days, notice the hand made tag on the first pic!
When a lovely customer called Hope collected her arrangement, she called it a 'Joy Jar' and the name stuck! Since then, they've taken on a life of their own and I've made hundred over the years (for both happy and sad reasons), I never tire of making them and they encompass what I do here, freshly picked, seasonal flowers grown and arranged with love, designed to bring pure joy.
No two are ever the same, every week the picking gardens change as the seasons evolve, bringing new flowers and hence the colour and texture of the jars completely changes.
Spring, late spring and summer arrangements - which one is your favourite? In spring I grow the most delicate and long-lasting tulips which open slowly to show their amazing colours inside their petals, stunning pastel anemone which often get many comments on their beauty. Moving into late spring there are sweet william with their delicate scent, icelandic poppies and blousy godetia. Summer hits and its all about dahlia, sunflowers and zinnia - the colours are so incredibly vibrant! I hope you have enjoyed my little trip down memory lane. Which flower-season is your favourite? Please let me know in the comments below!
